MY CREDENTIALS: 

I hold a M.A. degree in Guidance & Counseling, and am a State of Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), as well as a member of the Michigan Counseling Association.   I earned a Professional Endorsement from the Institute For Life Coach Training in Ohio.  I trained and became a Reiki Master.  I also have certificates for Esoteric Healing training, levels 1-5 from Dr. Barbara Briner at The Institute for Bioenergy Studies in Okemos, Michigan. Although I chose to no longer practice, I trained and became a Certified Hypnotist from Robert Ranger at The Institute of Transformational Hypnotherapy in East Lansing, Michigan. 

I have led many small groups with teens and adults on topics such as Children of Divorce, Grief and Loss, New Student Support, Marriage Support, Life Balance and Goal Setting, Happiness, and A Course In Miracles, and  have led workshop presentations about Self Love. I continue to work on my personal and professional growth by regularly taking classes and workshops. From 2020-2023, during the COVID years I  participated in a Masters group class for spiritual growth with Sara Landon, a Spiritual teacher and channeler from California.    I love to learn and grow and consider myself a "life long learner".

I have worked in both organizations and schools as a counselor, and served 4 different school districts, including an alternative school for high school drop outs and a K-8 private school, each for a year. After my last 21 years serving as a high school counselor, working with students and parents,  I retired from the Okemos Community Schools .  After retirement I began searching for what I wanted to next pursue.  For 2 years I worked for a private business as a college consultant and advisor for high school school students and their parents. I worked as a part time counselor for a year at a private school with K-8 students. I took graphic arts classes at Lansing Community College.  Next-I discovered the metaphysical world and the healing practice of Reiki. In 2013, I opened my own business of Joyful Spirits and have since had the pleasure of working with clients, ages 13-90.  I offered my services of Reiki and Life Coaching  at the Okemos Senior Center for 2 years until my husband and I moved from the area.  I have come to believe that whether it's Counseling, Life Coaching, or Reiki & energy work, each avenue has the capacity to help us heal by "unpeeling the onion". One layer at a time--we become aware and learn, grow, and heal, creating new beliefs and choices towards reaching our essence of the truth and love who we are. We each get to choose for ourself who we want to be and we are the creators of our life!

I look forward to meeting you and assisting you with the concerns, issues, and feelings  you may be experiencing, whether they are from your own desire & initiative to grow and heal, or due to your journey through transition and life circumstances. My intention is that you feel comfortable, cared for, and safe with me and that you may you leave my office space with new realizations and feeling lighter than when you arrived.
